CONSULTATION: ' Why so Confident?'

Welcome back to Bwiza bwa Mashira! 😊

Mwiriwe/ Muraho/ Mwaramutse?

'Why so confident?' A vernacular statement....

Confidence as much as any word in the English language has different interpretations and perceptions. One of the mainstream meanings of confidence is to "believe or  be dependent on someone or something", credence. However, being confident depicts a more independent side that means self assurance, to believe in ones self, it has more of an assertive perception; a tranquil, serene, calm and collected aura.

Buriya ku iyakira si ikintu cyoroshye...
In my experience, before high school I wasn't really the most confident person in the room. I was a 'big girl' with more than a million insecurities. So let's say me and being confident weren't acquainted, my thoughts clouded me and my mirror never let me see my true self . Being confident was more or  less  a mere rumor for me. In high school however, it could seem as though I was the person to refer to, thinking that I was confident... this was wrong. I ASSUMED I knew what it was all about to be confident...my interpretation was confidence. I was very dependent, on what everyone around me had to say, how many likes, how many followers, the rate of acceptance and all that jazz.

This all changed after high school...

Being confident became very important and took a different perspective for me. Being confident is not only on the outside but you must begin from within. The intrapersonal understanding is very essential in order for you to portray what ever you want. Being confident is often confused with being "big headed", cocksure and smug. However, I like to look at it as one of the main sources of elegance and poise. It is a sad sight to see an ignorant or rude person be presumed as confident, they are simply rude and ignorant. Being confident is self love, self acceptance with no assurance and knowing yourself, being cultured. This also means accepting failure and moving forward because you believe in yourself.

(I'm still becoming familiar with being confident too...)

So, why so Confident? Why BE confident? There is a beauty that comes with being confident, some sort of elegance, a calm and collected outlook. It also helps you gain credibility, you are comfortable with who you are, you smile more often, you learn more about yourself  and furthermore don't mind your own company. You become your true self and also affect  the people around you in a positive way. My perspective on being confident might seem a bit far-fetched and deeply looked into, but that is because it is. I think that it has a lot to do with when an individual is comfortable in their own skin, independent and not in need for any sort of validation.
